A mere 2 days after suffering a harsh crash at Saturday February 16th Trofeo Laigueglia, Team Colombia Esteban Chaves was released from Pietra Ligure’s hospital in the early afternoon of Monday, February 18th, and made his way back to his Italian home. The hospital’s medical equipe once again evaluated 23-year-old rider’s conditions in the morning, stating a further improvement and giving the green light to his dismissal.
“When I got to his room in the morning, he was already sitting on his bed – Team Doctor Marco Pallini told us – that says a lot about how he feels. Esteban is in high spirit, and happy to go back home: his right shoulder was bandaged to treat the collarbone’s fracture, whose healing will be valued and monitored in the upcoming days.”
Chaves will need to observe 10 days of rest. Later, after a CT scan, the recovery programme will be set up: the discharge letter reports an ordinary prognosis of 30-40 days.
